Special General Meeting Wed 16th January 2008

Notice is hereby given of a Special General Meeting of the Carrickfergus Sailing Club to be held in the clubhouse on Wednesday 16th January 2008 at 19.00

Amend the following rules:

Rule 3.3 Para 2

Family and Ordinary Members of at least 1 year's standing who have attained the age of sixty years on the first day of January shall become Senior Members and shall pay one third of the amount payable by a Family or Ordinary Member.

3.8 Every candidate for membership (except Honorary and Life Membership) shall be proposed and seconded by Voting Members of the Club, both of whom should be personally acquainted with the candidate.

4.14 The Committee or any person or Sub-Committee delegated by the Committee to act as agent for the Club or its Members shall enter into contracts only so far as expressly authorised by the Committee. No one shall without the express authority of the Members in general meeting be entitled to enter into contractual or other obligations which shall be binding to the Members.

Rephrase as follows:

4.14 No person or Sub-Committee, without express authority from the Management Committee, shall enter into contracts or other obligations (except day to day running of the Club) which shall be binding on the Members.

6.1 An Annual General Meeting of the Club shall be held each year on the third Wednesday of the month of January. The Honorary Secretary shall, at least fourteen days before the date of such meeting or any General Meeting herein after mentioned, post or deliver to each Voting Member notice thereof and of the business to be brought forward there at.

Reword first sentence:

6.1 An Annual General Meeting of the Club shall be held each year in November or December on a date set by the Management Committee. The Honorary Secretary shall, at least fourteen days before the date of such meeting or any General Meeting, post or deliver to each Voting member, notice thereof and of the business to be brought forward there at.
