Notice of Race

1. Rules

1.1. The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.

1.2. Appendix D - Team Racing Rules will apply.

1.3. Racing rule(s) 35, A4, A5, 40, 60.1(a), 62.1(a), 62.2, 66 will be changed. The changes will appear in full in the sailing instructions. The sailing instructions may also change other racing rules.

2. Eligibility and Entry

2.1. The regatta is open to members of the Carrickfergus Sailing Club and Dublin Bay Ruffian fleets.

2.2. The following restrictions on the number of boats apply: Only four teams from each club.

3. Schedule

3.1. Briefing and Registration: 09:00 Sunday 5th July 2009

3.2. Number of races: Four

3.3. The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race is 10:00.

4. Sailing Instructions

4.1. The sailing instructions will be available at the briefing.

5. Venue

5.1. Racing will take place off Carrickfergus Sailing Club.

6. Scoring

6.1. The Scoring System of Appendix D will apply.

7. Disclaimer of Liability and Insurance

7.1. A boat is entirely responsible for her own safety, whether afloat or ashore, and nothing, whether in the Notice of Race or Sailing Instructions or anywhere else, reduces this responsibility.

7.2. It is for the boat to decide whether she is fit to sail in the conditions in which she will find herself. By launching or going to sea, the boat confirms that she is fit for those conditions and her crew is competent to sail and compete in them.

7.3. The boat is required to hold adequate insurance and in particular to hold insurance against third party claims in the sum of at least £2m sterling.

7.4. Nothing done by the organisers can reduce the responsibility of the boat nor will it make the organisers responsible for any loss, damage, death or personal injury, however it may have occurred, as a result of the boat taking part in racing. The organisers encompass everyone helping to run the race and the event, and include the organising authority, the race committee, the race officer, patrol boats and beach masters.

7.5. The provision of patrol boats does not relieve the boat of her responsibilities.
