Dinghy - Notice of Race

1. Rules

1.1. The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.

1.2. The RYA Portsmouth Yardstick Scheme as set out in the current YR2 will be used.

1.3. Carrickfergus Sailing Club Dinghy Sailing Procedures shall apply.

2. Eligibility and Entry

2.1. The regatta is open to all boats of the PY Dinghy classes.

2.2. Eligible boats may enter by completing the attached form and sending it to Carrickfergus Sailing Club before the start of the first race.

2.3. All competitors shall be a member of Carrickfergus Sailing Club.

3. Schedule

3.1. Dates of Racing and Number of Races: 2nd May to 29th August (excluding 11th July) – 17 races

3.2. The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race each day is 19:10.

4. Sailing Instructions

4.1. The Sailing Instructions will be available on the Club Website and at the Club Battery.

5. The Courses

5.1. The courses to be sailed will be off the Club Battery using fixed marks.

6. Scoring

6.1. Portsmouth Numbers will be those published in the current YR2 for each class, adjusted as necessary for variations from Base Rig.

6.2. Boats without Portsmouth Numbers published in the current YR2 will be allocated an estimated Trial Number.

6.3. Three races are required to be completed to constitute a series.

6.4. A boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores with one race excluded for every three races.

7. Prizes

7.1. Prizes will be given in each class as follows: 1st place 3 or more entries, 2nd place 4 or more entries, 3rd place 5 or more entries.

8. Disclaimer of Liability and Insurance

8.1. A boat is entirely responsible for its own safety, whether a?oat or ashore, and nothing, whether in the Notice of Race or Sailing Instructions or anywhere else, reduces this responsibility.

8.2. It is for the boat to decide whether it is ?t to sail in the conditions in which it will ?nd itself. By launching or going to sea, the boat con?rms that it is ?t for those conditions and that its crew is competent to sail and compete in them.

8.3. The boat is required to hold adequate insurance and in particular to hold insurance against third party claims in the sum of at least £2m.

8.4. Nothing done by the organisers will reduce the responsibility of the boat nor will it make the organisers responsible for any loss, damage, death or personal injury, however it may have occurred, as a result of the boat taking part in the racing. The organisers encompass everyone helping to run the race and the event, and include the organising authority, the race committee, the race of?cer, patrol boats and beachmasters.

8.5. The provision of patrol boats does not relieve the boat of its responsibilities.

9. Photography Consent

9.1. By entering the Series competitors accept that they may be photographed and/or videotaped participating in the race and/or using the Club facilities and they consent to the taking of such images and to the use, reuse, publication and republication of such images in any media, in conjunction with the competitors name or not, without compensation and without the competitors approval of such images or any use thereof.
