Six boats took part in the 2017 Boxing Day Cruise to Belfast's Titanic Hotel and the cruise and adventure was enjoyed by the members, children and guests who participated.
An early start for Grayling and TiriMoana on Boxing Day saw them well ahead and under sail when the rest of the fleet motored out at around 11am, the rest being Cuchulain, Ilmatar, White Pearl and Ocean Star.
The morning was cold, but sunny with a gentle NW breeze, a perfect day for a wee cruise to Belfast.
At the Abercorn Basin marina we found space on the visitors berth to form a couple of rafts for the six boats, then made our way to the Titanic Hotel for refreshments and to explore the beautifully renovated building with its restored drawing offices, now housing the bar and dining rooms, its pictorial history and the original Director’s board rooms - it is really well worth visiting. The bar food was excellent and reasonably priced.
On behalf of the 34 members who enjoyed this annual outing a big ‘thank you’ to Howard, Rory, David, Graham, newly-weds Martin and Karen, and John Patrick for taking their boats and making this a fun event for everyone.
