CSC North Channel Oppy Sails Again! image

Once upon a time a group of our junior sailors set off in a little Optimist dinghy to sail across the sea to Scotland and succeeded in their challenge to conquer the North Channel.

Following their success the little Oppy enjoyed many years further sailing closer to home and provided invaluable training to numerous juniors, however it became neglected and spent a number of lonely years in the boat park without any friends.

Thanks to Denis Magill the Oppy has had a new coat of paint and found a new home and friends at Rathcoole Nursery School and is being sailed once again not only to Scotland but according to the staff places further afield such as America and some desert islands and has ignited the imagination of many young children and hopefully future sailors.

The staff of Rathcoole Nursery have thanked the Club and members for this practical donation.
