PUSH THE BOAT OUT day on Saturday 20th May was a great success with almost fifty people getting a chance to try sailing for the first time in either a club Bahia dinghy or on board one of the three member keelboats and for a couple of lucky participants in an RS Elite.
A big thanks is due to all helms, crew and other members who made the day possible including those who not only were on the water but all those who helped on shore with welcoming the participants, dealing with registration, providing tea, coffee, soft drinks and scones and other treats before going onto the water, equipping the participants and escorting them to their boats, bringing them back to the club house and providing them with information about the club, membership and courses. Thanks are also due to all those who manned the three safety boats for the day to ensure safety was paramount for all participating. Finally a thanks to the " chefs" who provided the BBQ both for the morning session and again in the afternoon which all members participating really appreciated and the majority of participants enjoyed before leaving the club.
As a result of the event the club has now received 13 membership applications for new membership by category as follows;-
Family 4; Ordinary 3; 18-25 3; Junior 2 and Sailing Associate 1
These applications are proceeding through the nomination and election process and we look forward to welcoming all the new members into the club.
