Join us for this celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the founding of Northern Ireland Old Gaffers Association.

Visit the fleet of classic sailing boats moored in Carrickfergus Harbour, many of which have been saved from extinction and lovingly restored by their proud owners who just love to talk about their project and the history of their vessels.

OF SPECIAL INTEREST ~ ‘PEGGY BAWN’

Built (1894) by Hilditch in Carrickfergus, this beautiful gaff cutter was rescued and restored by yacht historian Hal Sisk, and is accompanied by her mother ship, the ‘ Molly Ban’

SATURDAY 6th JUNE 11am ~ 5pm

Free entrance to the MARITIME MARQUEE. Situated beside CARRICKFERGUS SAILING CLUB, the Marquee will house these exhibits of interest:

  • Live underwater pictures of sea bed & sea life around Carrick from the NIEA Survey Vessel anchored offshore.
  • Marine Artefacts & Maritime History of Carrickfergus
  • The story of the ‘Peggy Bawn’
  • Classic and Wooden boats for sale
  • Learn to Sail ~ Carrick Sailing Club sail training
  • Carrickfergus Sea Cadets
  • Belfast Lough Sailability
  • RNLI stand and Souvenir Shop

SATURDAY 6th JUNE ~ 12 noon

Classic Regatta

Enjoy the spectacle of the Classic fleet while they race round the buoys just off-shore, viewed from Carrickfergus Sailing Club, the East Pier, the Marine Highway , Fisherman’s Quay.

SUNDAY 7th JUNE ~ 12 noon

Parade of Sail

Can be viewed from Carrickfergus Sailing Club, the East Pier, the Marine Highway and Fisherman’s Quay.

Bar-B-Que & Jazz ~ 3pm

  • LIVE UNDERWATER PICTURES of the sea bed & sea life at Carrickfergus from the NIEA Survey Vessel anchored offshore.
  • Maritime artefacts and history of maritime Carrickfergus.
  • The story of the ‘Peggy Bawn’, a gaff cutter built in Carrickfergusin 1894, recently restored and now visiting it’s birthplace.
  • Young Sailors Learn to Sail at Carrickfergus Sailing Club.Sign up to their sail training programme for all, ages 8 to 80.
  • Carrickfergus Sea Cadets display.
  • Belfast Lough Sailability display.
  • RNLI stand and Souvenir Shop.
  • Classic and wooden boats for sale.
  • Northern Ireland Old Gaffers Association 20 years old!
  • View the CLASSIC REGATTA taking place just off-shore.Vessels will exit the harbour from 12 noon.
  • See the fleet of 30 - 40 classic boats while they are moored alongside the pontoons in the harbour.
