Ian Moore, member of Carrickfergus Sailing Club and son of the late John Moore and Wendy (Moore) Grant, is coming to give an illustrated lecture about his sailing experiences in the Louis Vuitton/Americas Cup and Volvo Ocean Race.
Currently navigator for the Irish team, Green Dragon, he began his competitive sailing in Carrickfergus before going to university in Southampton. There he made the most of opportunities of big fleet, off shore and match racing. Graduating from foredeck to navigation station broadened his horizons and he has sailed winning entries in major events all over the world, most recently on ‘Quantum’ the winner of last year’s TP52 Med Cup series.
After the lecture there will be a finger buffet and an opportunity to relax and chat with Ian.
There is a limit to the number that can be accommodated in the clubhouse so anyone interested in attending the lecture is advised to book by phoning Rory on 028 9335 5884, or email rory@carrickmarina.com. Tickets are also available from the bar at the clubhouse, price £10.00

Sunday 23rd August is our special “Tea by the Sea” event in aid of the cancer charity “Sail 4 Cancer”, organised in combination with Regatta Weekend, the Craft Fair and Castle Cup.
Tea & Scones in the Marquee from 11am - 3pm
All donations to Sail 4 Cancer will be very gratefully received. In addition to indulging in a cuppa or two there will be some fun activities for younger children, plus the opportunity to follow the race from the Club House or the Marquee. And all in aid of a great cause!
The event is part of a nationwide “Tea by the Sea” initiative being held throughout the summer in aid of cancer charity Sail 4 Cancer who raise funds to help improve the quality of life for those living with cancer. The charity provides respite, mainly through sailing opportunities, for cancer patients, their families and those recently bereaved in order that they can have a chance to rebuild their confidence and their relationships and the opportunity to create positive memories to help sustain them through the difficult times they may be facing. For more information about the charity please see the website on www.sail4cancer.org or call 0845 408 1849.
