As a RYA recognized training centre, Carrickfergus Sailing Club offers an extensive range of RYA sailing, powerboat and navigation courses. With qualified and friendly instructors we create a safe and fun environment for all ages to relax and learn how to sail. With the choice of sailing on Belfast Lough, or in the shelter of Carrick Harbour, there is rarely an occasion where it is not possible to get on the water. We also have two state of the art classroom facilties, and a large boatshed which allow for a variety of courses and activities to take place simultaneously.
Carrickfergus Sailing Club provides excellent clubhouse facilities with friendly staff and members. The restaurant and bar overlooks Belfast Lough, which makes it a perfect location for spectating.

Our junior courses usually run from Monday to Friday during the summer months. Two levels of Courses are available, allowing the children to learn with other sailors of a similar standard. RYA Stage 1 & 2 courses are held for children aged 8-16 with no previous experience of sailing. RYA Stage 3 & 4 are held for sailors with more experience who have succesfully completed their Stage 1 & 2.
These courses are aimed at people over 18 years old who have limited or no knowledge of sailing. The course will teach you the basics of sailing. These courses are usually held over two weekends to cater for working life.
After children complete their sailing courses, they will want to keep sailing. We offer Coaching on Friday evenings throughout the summer, and Saturday afternoons in the autumn/spring. This involves some sailing, as well as numerous fun activities such as kayaking, swimming, BBQ's and powerboating.
An introduction to launching and recovering a boat from a road trailer, everyday boat handling and safety equipment.
Learn close quarters handling, planing speed manoeuvres, man overboard recovery and collision regulations.
Skills for drivers of escort craft, safety boats, coach boats, and racing and training activities.
A comprehensive introduction to cruising for inexperienced skippers. This course covers anchoring, tides, weather, navigating and much more.
Advanced training for more experienced skippers building on the Day Skipper course..
A one day course covering all the usual first aid subjects but from a boating perspective.
